Choral Music
Dr. Ken Peterson

Dr. Ken Peterson is director of choral/vocal activities at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance from Utah State University, his Master of Music degree in voice performance from Illinois State University, and his Doctor of Arts in voice performance and pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado.

A sought after choral conductor and an awarded music director of the musical stage, Dr. Peterson is also a published researcher in the field of vocal pedagogy and was invited in June 2002 to present his original research in respiration at the Voice Foundation's annual symposium in Philadelphia.

As a singer, tenor Ken Peterson has performed throughout the United States in recitals, concerts, music theatre and opera. Dr. Peterson has been an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing since 1990.

Choral Ensembles
Dixie State College Chorus: A large ensemble, usually 75-100 singers
Chamber Singers: A small select group, usually 20 to 30 voices
Women's Ensemble: A women's chamber choir
The Jazz Project: A small choral ensemble of advanced singers dedicated to the study and performance of vocal jazz literature
Southwest Symphonic Chorale: A community-based ensemble

Dr. Robert Briggs

Has been Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Voice and Music History at Southwestern Michigan College and Dodge City Community College over the last seven years.  He is a certified KMEA and MSVMA Adjudicator and Clinician, adjudicating over 150 choirs each year. He has also served as clinician in many school districts, including the Indiana 350 Voice "Circle the State With Song" performances. Dr. Briggs has been a tenor soloist with many symphony orchestras and choirs, and was a chorister in the Utah Symphony Chorus and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  His choirs have preformed at MENC All-State and All-Northwest Conventions on four occasions, and have been invited to tour Europe and Mexico.  Dr. Briggs is a published composer/arranger, and author of articles on Music History and Choral/Vocal Performance.  He is originally from Idaho, and has taught and directed in many states.
