It has been four wonderful, growing years since the Eccles Fine Arts Center dedication on October 22, 2004. Dixie State’s Cultural Arts department has been an honored host for some of Southern Utah’s finest student and community talent. Our faculty is unsurpassed in dedication and willingness while they build our students educational foundation. Each year we move forward with high hopes and increased expectations.
The collaboration with our new community partners, The Southern Utah Heritage Choir and St. George Musical Theater has added new dimensions and possibilities. They join the Celebrity Concert Series and Southwest Symphony, our long time friends, to enhance opportunities to bring the students and community members together in many areas of involvement.
In the fall of 2007 we welcomed six new faculty members - three in music and three in theater. Each new well-qualified member brings with them extraordinary talent and a profound love of teaching to our department. In a faculty concert given in their honor they stunned the audience with their amazing performances. As they work and plan together with our already accomplished faculty we expect banner years ahead.
We were also thrilled to secure a full time art curator to continue the high quality gallery shows displayed in our beautiful Robert and Peggy Sears Art Gallery. It is opened year round and features spectacular exhibits with well-known, world famous artists and extraordinarily gifted students including community talent.
We are profoundly grateful and appreciate the support and dedication of many visionary people who have helped build this beautiful facility and establish programs in theater, art, music and dance. Much of our success to this point can be contributed to the financial aid and scholarship contributions so generously donated. Lives have been changed and will continue to change because of this loyalty, passion and vision.
We invite one and all to come and enjoy the Dixie State College experience in celebrating the arts as we move forward step by step into a new and promising future.
