Dance 3200 Modern Dance III
(2.0 Credits)
Course Description
An advanced modern dance technique course for students with an emphasis in dance. It requires a prior significant amount of dance experience. A continuation of DANC 2200. It is designed to increasing the difficulty of modern dance movements and it is the progression of development with modern dance vocabulary and technical skills. Prerequisite: DANC 2200 or instructor permission.
Course Objectives
- Develop a deeper understanding of mechanical and physiological body movement.
- Learn advanced modern dance technique to increase the body awareness and connectivity of individual body parts; increase body flexibility, strength, endurance and control.
- Develop advanced modern dance techniques, and utilize time, space and energy through movement phrases, improvisation and compositional studies.
- Appreciate the complexity and joy of freedom of movement as expressed through modern dance.
