MESBEC, Native American Leadership Education (NALE), & Tribal Business Management (TBM) Scholarship

  • Students applying for MESBEC must be majoring in math, engineering, science, business, education and computers.
  • Students applying for NALE must be majoring in education, counseling, or school administration
  • Students applying for TBM must be majoring in finance, management, economics, banking, hotel management, and related fields who plan to work in economic development for tribes

Award: From $500 - $5,000

American Indian Science and Engineering Society Scholarships and Internships

The AISES provides scholarships and internships to its members who are members of an American Indian tribe, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian who are studying in STEM areas.

Navajo Nation Oil and Gas Company ("NNOGC")

The Navajo Nation Oil and Gas Company ("NNOGC") is a wholly-owned corporation of the Navajo Nation, established as a federally-chartered entity under authority granted by the Navajo Nation Council. NNOGC is a product of the Navajo Nation’s Energy Policy. NNOGC’s scholarship program is designed to encourage academic excellence and to prepare Navajo tribal members to become skilled and knowledgeable in the petroleum industry by providing a resource to assist selected Navajo students to pay for their educational expenses, including tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to apply for summer employment not only with NNOGC but also with other companies and agencies involved in the petroleum industry.

Indian Health Services

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority

It is the policy of the NTUA to encourage Navajos to pursue studies that lead to either a bachelor or master degree in fields relating to the multi-service utility industry.

REGULAR SCHOLARSHIPS
Any enrolled Navajo who meets the following eligibility criteria may be eligible for a scholarship:

  1. Who expects to graduate or has graduated high school by the date of enrollment at college or university; or
  2. Who expects to receive or has received a GED certificate by the date of enrollment at college or university; or
  3. A continuing college student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.00 or above;
  4. Who is in a field of study related to the multi-service utility industry (e.g. business, management, administration, accounting, engineering [electrical, civil, or environmental], environment, or information technology), is eligible.
  5. The recipient must attend an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.

 

ENHANCED SCHOLARSHIPS and INTERNSHIP
The recipient of funds who is in good academic standing (2.00 GPA) will be given first priority to be employed at an NTUA worksite while not in school.

  1. Interns employed at NTUA and who meet all other qualifications will receive scholarships paid in equal semester or term installments over the course of an academic year based on funds availability provided they meet performance standards of the Authority’s business needs and have successfully completed their employment term of 2 months or more as hired.

 

DEADLINE: The Scholarship Application, Letter of Interest, Official High School Transcripts, Official College Transcripts, Official Certificate of Indian Blood, and Regular Letter of Admission must to be submitted to the NTUA Training Department by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012. NOTE: If applying for the Enhanced Scholarship/Internship, you must also submit an Employment Application by the deadline.

NOVA CORPORATION

Nova Corporation is a Navajo Nation-owned IT services company awards scholarships to Navajo college students in the fields of Computer Science, IT, Business, and Engineering. The scholarships will began in the fall of 2011, and for 2012 will be a minimum award of $500 per semester to recipients

Age
There are no age restrictions. The scholarship is open to any student entering his or her sophomore year of college or higher (or equivalent).


Need-Financial Status
Students from low income families, who have been unsuccessful in obtaining financial assistance through the normal FAFSA sources, will be given special consideration.


Essay
As part of the application process, the candidate will be asked to choose a topic from the following list and write a 500-800 word essay:

  • Why I should be considered for the scholarship

 

This essay will be included when the application is submitted.


Extra-Curricular Activities
The candidate should list his/her extracurricular activities such as sports, community service projects, clubs, jobs and any other activities. This should also be included in the essay portion of the application.

American Indian Graduate Center

Basic Eligibility for all AIGC Fellowships and Scholarships include:

  1. Demonstration of one of the following:
    • Pursuing a master, doctoral, or professional degree as a full time student at an accredited graduate school in the United States (Fellowship, Loan for Service, Wells Fargo and Accenture)
    • Pursuing an undergraduate degree as a full time student at an accredited undergraduate school in the United States (Wells Fargo and Accenture)
    • A high school sophomore or junior planning to attend an accredited undergraduate school in the United States (All Native American High School Academic Team)
  2. All applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need through submission of a Financial Needs Form and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  3. All applicants must be able to demonstrate personal enrollment in a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group, or possess one fourth (1/4) degree verifiable federally recognized American Indian blood through the submission of a Tribal Eligibility Certificate.

American Indian College Fund

The American Indian College Fund was established in 1989 to provide scholarships to American Indian students and to fund and create awareness about the community-based accredited tribal colleges and universities that offer students access to knowledge and skills alongside Native culture, language, and values.

The American Indian College Fund also provides scholarships to students attending non-tribal colleges and graduate students attending all colleges.
