LOANS

Borrowing for higher education is a fact of life. As the cost of education continues to rise, more and more students have to borrow to meet those needs. If you need to take out student loans, you are making an investment in your futureHowever, limit the amount you borrow to your actual need. Do not jeopardize your future by having an unreasonable amount of debt that is above your expected future earnings.

Before students at Dixie State College can apply for federal loans, you must first complete a FAFSA because eligibility is determined by the federal government.   To determine eligibility you can complete a FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Once the FAFSA is submitted and Dixie State College receives the information, and your financial aid processing is completed, we will notify you of the type of loan(s) and amount(s) you qualify for.

How to accept my student loan: To accept a loan offer for Stafford or Perkins, you need to log into your student account on your “MyDSC” link and accept the amount you wish to borrow for the current academic year.

Attempting to make changes on-line once you have accepted or declined the award will lock up your file and we will be unable to process any requests for at least two weeks. If you wish to make changes, you will need to complete a re-evaluation request form and submit it to our office.

Loan Counseling You need to complete Loan Counseling each year you apply for student loans at Dixie State College Once the entrance counseling is completed, we will be notified electronically.

Exit Counseling:  When you are no longer enrolled at least half time at Dixie State College and have borrowed from the Stafford Loan program, you are required to complete exit counseling module.   The information in this module will provide you with critical information about your loans and how to repay them.
