Non-Resident Tuition Reduction Waivers/Scholarships

Non-Resident waivers require a separate application. Please read the requirements of each scholarship/waiver and select the one that fits best. In order to be considered, students must first be admitted: 

 

  • Alumni Legacy Scholarship: Did you (the parent) earn an associates degree from DSC? You can now send your child to Dixie State College and a portion of the nonresident tuition will be waived. We'd love to have them here! To qualify for the Alumni Legacy Program, the applicant must be a first-time student to the Utah system of higher education. Please complete the verification form for consideration. Numbers are limited so apply early.

    Time spent in Utah on the Alumni Legacy Nonresident Scholarship cannot be counted toward establishing resident student status. For more details see our Legacy Scholarship Requirements.

  • Good Neighbor Scholarship: In-state tuition plus and additional $85 surcharge per credit hour, for residents of Lincoln & Clark Counties in Nevada, and Mohave & Coconino Counties in Arizona. The Student must first be admitted to DSC as an undergraduate in a degree seeking program. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or a 22 ACT (or SAT equivalent) and Strong Leadership experience. Priority deadline is March 1st, however awarding will continue until all scholarships are awarded.  

  • Western Undergraduate Exchange or WUE: (pronounced "woo-wee") DSC is authorized to award 80 students from (14) participating states. Eligible states are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming. WUE awards are based on academic merit and enrollment in an eligible program.  WUE waivers reduce the cost to 150% of instate tuition. Students must maintain eligibility by keeping the required GPA and credit hours as outlined on the award letter.  The Priority Deadline is March 1st.

 

  •  DSC/CSN Conditional Waiver: College of Southern Nevada and Dixie State College have entered into an  agreement for the purpose of granting a waiver of the non-resident portion of tuition to students transferring from CSN. Students must be admitted to DSC in order to be eligible for consideration. An application and copy of current CSN transcripts are required. Applicants will be accepted until scholarships are filled. Mid year transfers will be considered based on availability of waivers.

  •        Non-Resident Full Merit Scholarships are awarded to students from any state within the United States, and are  based on high academic merit. These awards waive 100% of the non-resident differential of tuition (student pays  instate portion of tuition). Students must maintain eligibility by keeping the required GPA and credit hours as outlined on the award letter. Priority Deadline is March 1st. Application available in November 

    • Non-Resident Half Merit Scholarships are awarded to students from any state within the United States(residents of Nevada and Arizona please refer to Border Waiver and Good Neighor Waiver) and are based on academic merit. Half merit waivers pay approximately 35% of the total non-resident tuition. Students must maintain eligibility by keeping the required GPA and credit hours as outlined on the award letter. Priority Deadline is March 1st. 

    • Border Waiver (Senate Bill 20 Waivers) are awarded to students from Nevada and Arizona that live within approximately 100 miles of the Dixie State College campus. Border waivers pay approximately 35% of the total non-resident tuition. Students must maintain eligibility by keeping the required GPA and credit hours as outlined on the award letter.

    • Non-Resident Need Based Scholarship/ Waivers are available to students with financial need. Students are required to complete a FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) prior to being considered for any need-based monies. Personal interview and documentation of circumstances may be required on a case-by-case basis. Need based scholarships are awarded year to year based on FAFSA information and availability of funds. www.fafsa.ed.gov

  • Dixie State College non-resident waiver policy does not allow for the stacking of waivers in any amount that exceeds the cost of tuition. The DSC scholarship office reserves the right to adjust, reduce and/or cancel awards that violate this policy.
