Health Science Scholarships

Dixie State College of Utah offers training to students in several levels of nursing. The practical nurse and associate registered nurse programs have been approved by the Utah State Board of Nursing and have received accreditation through NLNAC™.

Students who have been accepted into the DSC Nursing Program are invited to apply for Nursing Department Scholarships. Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate nursing students, in good academic standing.

AmeriCorps Service

Upon successful completion of a term of service, members are eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. These awards range from $1,000 to $4,000, which may be used to pay current college costs or to repay student loans. Utah Ladies of Elks

Applicants must be admitted as a nursing student at a Utah college or university, must have completed at least one year of class work and have a minimum 3.30 GPA. Scholarship awards are judged 50% on merit and 50% on financial need. Application deadline for 2009-2010 is April 15th. Please contact the DSC Nursing department at (435) 879-4810 for an application.

Utah Nurses Foundation Nursing Grant-In-Aid

Provides scholarships to Utah residents who are interested in working on a nursing degree. Recipients must agree to join the Utah Nurses Association within 6 months of graduation. Ruth S Clayton Memorial Nursing Scholarship

A grant program providing financial assistance to women graduates from Utah high schools to attend schools located in the state of Utah. Must study nursing with the goal of attaining an R.N or R.N/B.S.N program. Applicants must need financial assistance in order to continue their education, have high academic achievement, extracurricular and/or community involvement and established nursing career goals. Priority will be given to women whose intention is to work as nurses in the state of Utah for at least two years following their graduation.

Indian Heath Services Scholarship (IHS)

This program is part of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (Public Law 94-437). Applicants must be an American Indian or Alaska Native. The Navajo area office is located at P.O. Box 9020, Window Rock, and Arizona 86515. Contact person listed as Ms. Rosalinda Allison.

Dixie Regional Medical Center Volunteers, Health Care Career Scholarship

Sorry, this scholarship is not available for the 2009-2010 year.

Applicants must be interested in medical or related occupations and live in the local community. Yearly deadline is mid-March. Applications and information are available from the Volunteer Scholarship Committee c/o DRMC Volunteer Services 544 South 400 East St George, UT 84770.
