The following is a list of campus resources where you can go for help. If you have a question or a problem, there are lots of people willing to assist you! Visit, call, or go to the websites listed for more information.
Student Government and Activities

The Dixie State College Student Association (DSCSA) Executive Council is in charge of all student-related issues and activities. The student body president also sits on important campus committees and has a vote on actions taken there.
Students are encouraged to address the council about issues or comments they have. The Executive Council meets weekly, and officers will be available at posted times in the Student Government room.
All student activities are generated through the DSCSA. Student officers and faculty advisers strive to organize activities that meet the physical, social, mental, and emotional needs of all students.
Executive Council members are selected during the spring semester to serve the following year. Current members can provide information about how to become involved in student government.

Advisers are available to assist students with academic and personal counseling needs. The Center also coordinates advisement for academic assessment, orientation, returning adults, multicultural programs, disability resources, wellness programs, and career planning and placement.

The Career Center assists students in defining career goals, preparing for employment, developing relationships with employers, obtaining career-related work experience, and creating and implementing job search plans. Our mission is to enhance student learning, satisfaction and positive personal growth by enabling students to experience success in pursuit of their career and life goals.
No matter where you find yourself in the search process--from not knowing what to major in or what to do with your life, to knowing exactly what your plans are and putting them in motion--The Career Center has resources available to help you achieve your goals which include (for free!): computerized career programs, employment outlook, a career library, access to the internet, individual career counseling, career assessments, and resume review. The cashier's office is the place to pay your tuition and fees and pick up your financial aid money after it has been applied to your student account. A picture ID must be presented at the time scholarship and financial aid money is received.
Computer Labs

Dixie State College provides two open access labs with 211 computers to all enrolled students. IBM-compatible and a limited number of Macintosh computers are connected to laser printers. A selection of software is available, including most commonly used word processing, spreadsheets, graphics programs, databases, and others, with emphasis on the institutional and educational needs of students. Internet access is also available, and e-mail, facebook, and similar applications are permitted. Gaming and pornography are prohibited.

Red Rock Cafe - Our food court offers a wide variety of food choices: Big D Deli, Home Cookin, Sweet Corner, Rebelano's (pizza & pasta), Backyard Grill, Wok...Your Way, Quenchers, and Soup'r Salad. Open Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
The General Store - The General Store is more than just a convenience store. It's a place where friends can meet, do homework, be tutored or just eat a snack or two while studying. With lots of scrumptious items to select from, you might have a hard time choosing!
Vending - Campus Dining Services has conveniently located vending machines across the campus to meet everyone's needs. During lunch, breaks or anytime, the vending machines provide snacks, beverages and food. See the website for a map showing locations of vending machines across campus!
Concessions - Whenever there is an on-campus sporting event, Campus Dining will be there to quench your thirst or feed your enthusiasm as you support our teams! We are located at the following sporting event. Menus include hotdogs, candy, nachos, popcorn, hot & cold beverages and more!

The Disability Resource Center is the designated office on the campus of Dixie State College of Utah to evaluate disability documentation, to determine eligibility, and implement reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities, in compliance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, as well as Dixie State College Policies and Procedures. It is the sole responsibility of the student to meet with the DRC Coordinator for the purpose of determining eligibility for services.

The Dixie State College Ambassador program is a student leadership organization representing DSC to potential students and their families from the community, state, nation, and world. These student Ambassadors aid the School Relations Department by giving campus tours, visiting high schools, attending college fairs, completing office hours, & providing potential students with a knowledge and understanding of college life at DSC.

The Dixie State College Bookstore is a convenient campus source for textbooks, general books, educational supplies, and more. There is also a variety of calculators, office, school, and art supplies. We also offer educational discounts on software and computer supplies; we are an official APPLE Store offering student discounts on APPLE products. The Bookstore also specializes in college insignia apparel and souvenirs. We also have frequent sales and discounts. Come see us!
The Dixie Sun

The student newspaper is published weekly and is the voice for the students of Dixie State College. Check for it in all campus buildings on Wednesdays. It also provides opportunities for students interested in writing, photography, editing and advertising to get hands-on experience, as well as a way to get involved on campus. Students can even get course credit for being on the staff. Experience is preferred but not required. The Dixie Sun also accepts letters to the editor and story ideas.

Over 86% of the students at Dixie State College work full or part time while enrolled. Most students on financial aid are employed in work-study positions. Students also work for local businesses. The Student Employment Office assists students in locating employment in the community.

The financial aid office processes applications for financial aid and scholarships. Questions regarding student loans, grants, and scholarships should be directed here. Payment plans and short-term loans can be arranged through the Financial Aid Office.
Health Services

Students who do not have insurance can have health problems diagnosed free of charge at I.H.C. InstaCare. All students who wish to use this option must get a referral from the Vice President for Student Services or the Wellness Center. Prescriptions, x-rays, and other services are not covered.
The college does not furnish health insurance for students. If students wish to purchase insurance coverage, brochures are available from various companies outside the office of Vice President for Student Services. All insurance costs are the responsibility of the student.
Learn and Serve Center

Provides opportunities for students to readily access service, service learning, and civic engagement for their development as civic leaders. Provides partnership opportunities with community agencies for DSC students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Also coordinates AmeriCorps UCAN Service Scholarship, various service awards, and Alternative Spring Break.

The Val A. Browning Library of Dixie State College has an excellent book collection and provides state-of-the-art electronic access to full-text reference, journal, magazine and newspaper databases and the internet. The book and audiovisual collections contain more than 150,000 items, while magazine and newspaper print holdings include over 200 current subscriptions. In addition to print items, students have access to approximately 50,000 books and other resources online.
Reference Librarians are available Monday through Friday to assist students with research or other library related projects.
There is a large computer work area behind the reference desk that is available for student use. These computers provide access to library electronic resources as well as standard Microsoft Office programs.
Multicultural Center

The Multicultural/Diversity Center (MCDC) is a student support service established to provide services to students with various cultural and /or ethnic backgrounds and to increase cultural diversity at Dixie State College. The MCDC operates under the principle that every person's unique life experiences enrich campus life and add a profound element to a true education. We invite ALLDSC students to participate in the Multicultural/Diversity Center events, to promote diversity and to celebrate their own cultural identities as well as those of others. Again, the Multicultural/Diversity Center is open to all students, while we particularly focus on supporting DSC multicultural students. In case of emergency, dial 911. Central dispatch will send the Fire Department, Ambulance, and/or Police. If a campus police officer is not on duty at the time of your call, dispatch will send St. George police officers to stand by until a campus officer can respond. The Security Office works very closely with the St. George Police Department and can be contacted 24 hours each day through SGPD dispatch at 634-5000.

TRiO- Student Support Services is a federally funded program to assist post-secondary students succeed and graduate from college. If you need an academic boost, visit the Student Support Services staff. They offer financial and academic advising, career/major advising, study skills coaching, and tours of other colleges. They support students with a semester class, Smart Start Seminar - (First Year Experience), a monthly newsletter, participation grants to qualified students, semester meetings and workshops. To be eligible for services a student must be:
1. low income (attending on a Pell Grant, or taxable income meets federal guidelines), and
2. first generation (neither parent has a bachelor degree), or
3. have a documented disability with the Disability resource Center
Testing Center

Many classroom tests are taken in the testing center. In addition, a variety of tests and testing services are offered, including ACT, CPT, Compass, SAT, CLEP, GED, career interest test and personality inventories. See the testing center for test costs. Writing tutors are available to help you with writing assignments free of charge in 30-minute sessions. You can get help with various writing skills, such as brainstorming, revision, punctuation, and usage. Appointments are recommended but not required. You can also visit the on-line writing center and even e-mail papers for feedback. We won't write or proofread the paper for you, but we can help you get started, teach you how to find errors, and give you ideas on how to polish your final draft.
