The practical nurse(PN) program prepares the graduate to work as a licensed practical nurse.  Students who successfully complete the practical nurse program will receive a certificate of completion from Dixie State College of Utah, and are eligible for practical nurse licensure upon successful completion of the NCLEX-PNtm.   This program also serves as the first two semesters for the associate degree RN program.   Licensed practical nurses are an important part of the health care team.  They provide nursing care for clients and families in acute care, long term care, community settings, or home health, usually under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN)  program expands the scope and practice of the licensed practical nurse in preparation for assuming the role of the registered nurse. Students expand their skills and knowledge in all areas of nursing with a focus on critical thinking and preparation to provide independent and comprehensive quality nursing care. Students are admitted into this two semester program each fall and spring semester. Completion of a practical nurse program is required.  Transfer students applying for the associate registered nurse program must be licensed practical nurses (LPN). Upon completion of this program, students receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible for registered nurse licensure upon successful completion of the RN-NCLEX™ licensure examination.  Utah ranked fourth highest in the nation in 2006 in first time pass rates for all ADN and BSN nursing programs.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(BSN) Online Program is designed to provide registered nurses advanced education and skills in community nursing, leadership, nursing management, health assessment, research, nursing policy and ethics, and information technology. The student will gain skills and concepts necessary to advance in their careers, enter mid level management positions, and pursue graduate education leading to professional advancement as nurse practitioners, nurse educators, or nurse administrators. Graduates will receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The traditional track is twenty-one months.  A part time option is available.  Admission is fall semester.  The BSN classes are taught online through Blackboard Vistatm
