ADN Prerequisites

The following are prerequisites to the ADN program.

*MATH 0920, 0990, 1010, ENGL 1470, 0990, 0995 may be required before prerequisite courses depending on ACT or CPT test scores.
**It is recommended that students without a strong biological science background take at least  BIOL 1010 before DSC Anatomy and Physiology courses.
***LIB 1010 is a prerequisite or co-requisite to ENGL 1010 or 2010.

BSN Support Courses

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours of coursework. This includes general education requirements as well as associate degree in nursing coursework.   The following three support courses are required.  Pathophysiology must be completed before enrollment in NURS 3200, and statistics  is a prerequisite for NURS 3600 (See course descriptions.) They may be taken after admission into the BSN program.

  • Students with an Associate of Science/Arts (AS/AA) or Bachelor of Science/Arts (BS/BA) degree from an institution within the Utah Higher Education System will have fulfilled these general education requirements.
  • Students with an Associate of Science/Arts (AS/AA) or Bachelor of Science/Arts (BS/BA) degree from a college outside of the Utah Higher Education System will need to fulfill the Composition (EN) (ENGL1010 and 2010), Math (MA), and American Institutions (AI) general education requirements for Dixie State College of Utah.
  • Students with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in nursing may be required to complete additional general education requirements.
