GED® Testing Information
This is the high school equivalency exam used by post-secondary educational institutions and employers in lieu of a high school diploma.
 
MAJOR CHANGE:  All new GED® Examinees, after Juy 1, 2012, will be required to take the Computer Based GED® Test.  The price will incease to $120.00.
   
 NOTE:  If you have previously taken the GED® Test in another state you must have your GED® Record transfered to the Utah State Office in Salt Lake City before you can test in Utah.

THERE ARE 3 STEPS TO SETTING UP A GED® TEST RESERVATION AT DIXIE STATE COLLEGE: 
         
          1.  Register on-line at GED123.org 
          2.  Pay On-Line using the payment system that is linked to our webpage.
          3.  Contact the testing center to reserve a seat.
 
(1) ON-LINE GED® REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
 
Go on-line to GED123.org and fill out the New Registration form.  When the computer asks for an Access Code just select continue, the program will assign you an Access Code later in the registration process.  Then print the Registration Confirmation and bring it with you on your test date.
 
(2) PRE-PAYMENT REQUIRED:
 
You must pre-pay before taking the GED® tests. The full battery of tests is $85.00. You must also pre-pay for re-tests; Language Arts Writing is $25.00 and Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts Reading are $20.00 each. You must select PAY FOR A TEST, at the top of this page, if you are paying by American Express, Discover, Master Card or check.  Scroll down and select the test you want to pay for and select Add to Basket.  When you have selected the payment(s) you wish to make select Checkout.  You may Register or select Continue as Guest.  Enter your name, e-mail address and phone number then Continue Check Out.  Select Method of Payment, credit card (American Express, Discover, or Master Card only) or electronic check.  Follow instructions to make payment.  Print your reciept or record your reciept number.  We are no longer able to accept Visa Card payments.  All payments by cash or Money-Order must be made in the Testing Center.  There is an ATM Machine in the lobby of the Gardner Center on the DSC campus if you need to obtain cash.  You must have a receipt number, which you will give when you call (435) 652-7692, to have your name put on the DSC GED®  Roster for the date you wish to take the tests. We will not put your name on the roster without a payment receipt number.
 
(3) SCHEDULING TEST DATE:
 
When you have registered on-line and made your pre-payment, the next step is to reserve a seat at the Testing Center for the date you wish to test. This can be done one of two ways: by sending an email to ged@dixie.edu or by leaving a message on our GED® answering machine at (435) 652-7692. Whether by email or phone message, please provide the following information for the GED® technician:
 
          1.  Desired test date (we test on Monday only)
          2.  Name
          3.  Age
          4.  State (State in which you are a legal resident)
          5.  Payment receipt number
          6.  Phone number
 
GED® testing at Dixie State College is limited to 26 examinees per testing sessionIf you want to reschedule you must call (435) 652-7692 by noon the Friday before your test date.
 
 
 
NO SHOW FEE:
 
We charge a No Show Fee if you fail to show up for your scheduled test date and do not reschedule by the above deadline.  To reschedule you must go to PAY FOR A TEST at the top of this page, scroll down and select  GED® Rescheduling Fee.  When you have paid the $15.00 No Show Fee on-line call (435) 652-7692 and follow SCHEDULING TEST DATE instructions above.
  
 
GED® TEST CONSISTS OF FIVE OBJECTIVE TESTS AND A WRITTEN COMPOSITION:
 
                Mathematics (90 minutes)
                Language Arts Writing (120 minutes, of which a minimum of 45 minutes must be allowed for the essay)
                Science (80 minutes)
                Social Studies (70 minutes)
                Language Arts Reading (65 minutes)

18      Class not graduated, GED® Testing Application required, section one with SSID number
18       Class has graduated, SSID number only
19       SSID number only
 
Out of State 16 – 18 year olds
 
16     A letter from the school district, in which the examinee resides, stating examinee is not currently enrolled in school. A document specifying the applicant is prepared to take the GED® tests must be provided. Parent or guardian letter giving examinee permission to take the GED® tests.
17     A letter from the school district, in which the examinee resides, stating examinee is not currently enrolled in school. Parent or guardian letter giving examinee permission to take the GED® tests.
18     Class not graduated, school district letter
 
18 & 19     Class graduated, nothing
 
Parent or legal guardian permission waived if applicant is under 18 and married. You must show your marriage certificate.
 
TESTING FEES:
 
$85.00 for complete battery of tests. You MUST pre-register on-line at GED123.org or fill out paper work in the DSC Testing Center prior to scheduling a testing date. You MUST also pre-pay.

Re-tests can usually be accommodated at any time between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
 
TEST RESULTS:
 
A scoring service, NRSPRO.com, scores our GED® Tests. Results are usually available within ten minutes after completing the tests.
 
ID REQUIREMENTS: (NO EXCEPTIONS)
 
A government issued photo ID is required for admission to a GED®Testing Center. Acceptable ID’s include: a current driver’s license, temporary driver’s license, military ID, state ID card or passport.  No one will be admitted with an expired ID.
 
Library cards, high school or university ID cards and food handler permits are NOT accepted.
 
ESTIMATED TIME OF DISMISSAL:
 
Dismissal time depends on starting time and how fast examinee finishes the afternoon tests, but will be no later than 6:00 p.m. It is not required that all five exams be taken on the same Monday. One or more exams may be taken each Monday.
